Science and Faith: Oil and Water

People always assume that science and faith never go along with each other. They think that religious people hate scientists and activists, and scientists hate priests and religious personas. However, those two are different from each other. They are not at odds because, in the first place, they are not similar.
To differentiate the two, let us first begin with their definitions. Science talks about the processes in the world that are based on observations, research, and experimentation, which means that they have evidence to support them. On the other hand, faith, or religion, is all about the beliefs of people and their compliance with the commandments of their God in order to be saved. Science and faith are incompatible, particularly when it comes to the creation of the Earth and the evolution of man. Science provides evidence, whereas religion relies on a subjective belief that God exists and created man. Personally, I am more convinced by science. This may be because of some reasons that made me doubt religion, particularly the Catholic Church. As I was growing up, I realized that not all religious people are really good people. They may go to church, praise God every single day, and read the Bible, but that does not mean that they live with it. Personally, I've had lots of bad experiences with people like that. Science and religion are really two different things, and they must respect each other's perceptions. However, the sad thing about religion is that most religious people force other people to believe what they believe in. I still remember how a priest in our place stated in his sermon that gay people will go to hell, and that they should apologize to God for being like that if they still want to go to heaven. That was an eye-opener for me, as a gay person, how toxic the church is. They say that God loves you and that you must be yourself, but you cannot be gay and express yourself freely or else God will punish you by sending you to hell. They force you to believe in and live by the Bible when they themselves do not. Lots of priests and religious personas commit sins found in the Bible, which makes them very hypocritical. Another one is that whenever someone admits that he is an atheist or in doubt about this religion, religious people criticize him and tell him that he will go to hell because he is doubting God. I respect their beliefs. However, if they want to encourage or change the person's perspective, they should do it in a better way.
Science does that thing by providing concrete evidence to back up their claims and prove that they are true and acceptable.

Science and religion are like oil and water. They both deserve to be respected and not criticized. However, they cannot be combined together. Science provides us with facts and evidence-supported information. Meanwhile, religion provides us with theories, beliefs, and subjective information that are supported by their faith. To keep the oil and water from mixing together and causing more troubles, people must respect each other's perspective and just live freely. With this, people will be kinder to each other, and the world will start to heal.
